Last week I thought 2003 Jag S-Type powered by the 3.0 Duratec, with a 5 speed manual was the best car to work on. The engine bay had some clever engineering in it and everything could be repaired in minutes. Then I had to take the upper intake manifold off, I've done plenty of worse jobs but it wasn't easy in the slightest. Following an overwhelmingly positive response to my £500 Jaguar XJ, many of which urged me to save it, join my for a (rather late) update on the car. The good news: it passed its MOT, is roadworthy and for the last few months has been a reliable workhorse. The bad news: in the last 24 hours, this Jaguar XJ has thrown a spanner in the works with some surprise faults and there's still plenty more to do.
